Hinako works with Access Now’s Legal arm to more effectively secure the rights of users at risk, including through strategic litigation and managing the Digital Rights Litigators Network. Before Access Now, she worked as a global corporate compliance and ethics (C&E) lawyer at the Tokyo office of an international law firm, where she investigated a number of cross-border corporate misconducts and negotiated with law enforcement agencies, and improved C&E systems of multinational corporations. There, she also obtained a scholarship for study at Columbia Law School LL.M. After Columbia, Hinako interned with the Electronic Frontier Foundation. She holds a BA in Political Science from Keio University and a J.D. from Hitotsubashi Law School. Hinako is licensed in Japan and has a funny dog.
