As the EU’s new 2024-2029 mandate begins, we invite EU policymakers to join us on our mission of defending and extending digital rights of people and communities at risk around the world.

The EU is launching the Digital Services Act and the Digital Markets Act. These two key pieces of legislation will impact the future of digital policies and rights online, specifically in relation to online platforms and competition, including the regulation of online advertising.

Access Now has put forward concrete policy objectives for European Union lawmakers in the areas of data protection, content governance,  artificial intelligence, surveillance, and connectivity.

The ongoing work on this topic signals both an awareness of the issues to be addressed and a commitment to address them. We hope to see regulatory initiatives turn “Trustworthy AI” into more than a slogan.

Our EU policy team participated in this year’s Privacy Camp and the Computers, Privacy & Data Protection (CPDP) conference in Brussels, Belgium. Here’s a guide to our activities.
