Access Now has joined the Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights (LCCHR), a long-standing coalition of more than 230 organizations committed to advancing and protecting all persons’ civil and human rights in the United States.
Access Now is proud to join the Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights. The coalition is a powerful force for civil and human rights in the United States, and we are excited to work with them to advance our shared goals of promoting and protecting digital rights for all.Willmary Escoto, U.S. Policy Analyst at Access Now
The LCCHR is a coalition of organizations working in the United States for over 60 years. The LCCHR has played a leading role in many of the most important civil rights victories in American history, including the passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1957, the Civil Rights Act of 1960, the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Voting Rights Act of 1965, the Fair Housing Act of 1968. It also helped to organize the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom in August 1963.
Access Now recognizes that the right to freely advocate for those at-risk in the United States and beyond exists because of decades of courageous advocacy by human rights defenders and civil rights leaders, many of whom count among the Leadership Conference’s founders and current members. Access Now’s membership in the LCCHR will strengthen our ability to advance digital rights and human rights in the United States and worldwide. Access Now is committed to working with the LCCHR and other civil rights organizations to build a more just and equitable world for all.
